Do you recall the times when bowls was a thriving sport, lots of clubs and greens were filled. You had to turn up early to have any chance of practice. Yep the days when folk wore white shirts and ties to play. Players turned up in greys and blazers and bowls were black or brown. Now we have coloured tops and trousers . Bowls available in any desired colour. Blazers and ties are quickly disappearing and being replaced by tracksuits at all levels of our game . Is it coincidental that as our game tries to transform, our greens are emptying and finding new members is a chore. You know what, I like the coloured tops, and bowls but perhaps the dinosaurs had it right .

Times are changing fast Brian (well on some matters) but my personal opinion is that while coloured ups and even coloured bottoms whilst playing on the green, it looks good to arrive home or away in a white collar tie and blazer, looks smart and provides that team bond.

Wow Brian
I would have loved to been around in those days my god you have some great fond memories, but unfortunately now you are showing your age. Lol 😂 😂 😂 😂 the good old days Brian when all clubs held their practice on a Thursday night and as you said the greens were packed if you weren't at the club before 6pm it was a struggle to get on.

Talking of prehistoric creatures , it's good to see you back Paul.😊. I've always looked up to you from i was a wee boy 😁. It's good you haven't completely lost your love for the game and are now back playing again. How many more are out there who once played the game but have lost touch.

Hey Brian I learnt a lot from you over the years about the sport. And you are certainly one that I have looked up to throughout the years. So please tell me what's it like to play bowls with the vets and also I hear that you are now drawn your pension, this is good as it will give you more time to build your own confidence on the green. As far myself I must work for another 17 years before I can get my pension and in ten years time I will not get the time to play for the vets. Enjoy your season auld hand.
